How do I show tasks sorted by project, task number?

I need the tasks sorted by project and then by logical task (step number).

Example:

Project 1
     Task 001
     Task 002
     Task 003
Project 2
     Task 001
     Task 001a
     Task 002
     Task 003

How would I accomplish this?

    Hello,

You can just create a new project called 'Project 1' and each of the tasks within the Project could start with 001, 002, 003 and so on.. followed by their task title (optional).

However, if you would like to set the order in which you want your tasks to be completed by defining dependencies between the tasks then see the link below on how to do so:

Please let me know if you would like further information.

    Best wishes,

    Sue

I tried that but they do not sort properly.

They sorted in reverse alpha order, actually, when I sorted by "project."

If "sort by "task" then other projects' tasks are mixed in.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Hello,

It sounds like you are clicking on 'My Tasks' and then 'All Tasks' - this will display all your tasks within all of your projects.

If you open a project, then open a task list within a project, you can click on 'Task' which will put the tasks within that Task List in alphabetical order.

This will not mix up all tasks from other projects.

You could try to put 001A, 002B, 003C which would help to order these tasks alphabetically.

Let me know if you would like further information.

    Best wishes,

    Sue

Okay, I think I am getting this.

What had me confused was that the tutorial goes like this:

    Create Project
    Create Task
    Create Task List

    When the hierarchy is actually:
    Project
    Task List
    Task

Of course, that is more logical, but I actually got that a "Task List" was a subset of a "task."

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello Dave

Yes you're right it's not the logical way round but we do it that way because the tutorial is designed to get people going and it seems to make more sense to most people that way.

    Thanks for your feedback

    John
