<p>Thanks for your questions and feedback. It's great and much
appreciated ;-)</p>
<p>OK please see my responses in line:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>QUESTION 1: Is it possible to get a "total gantt" of all tasks,
not only the task list which is the dashboard default?</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Yes we show this. See the left side icons - these icons show
"global screens" for each feature</p>
<blockquote>
<p>QUESTION 2: I marked the "INTRO PROJECT" tasks as completed, and
then tried to find them. But I couldn't. To me it is important to
have a list of previously completed tasks, and the ability to
duplicate them for the future. A lot of tasks are repetitive, e.g.
once a year, but you might forget (or not want to) set them as
recurring, or duplicate them before completing.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>You can see a list of all projects - including archived projects
by clicking on the wrench icon next to "My projects" on the right
side navigation.</p>
<p>Completed tasks are at the bottom of each task list - and can be
quickly reopened - see "Mak as Uncompleted"</p>
<blockquote>
<p>When creating or duplicating a task, it would also be great if
the "choose project" dropdown would be checkboxes instead of radio
buttons (i.e. multi select and not single select). Take "Annual
returns" or "deliver papers to accountant" for instance, this is
stuff I need to do in all of the companies, and it would be great
to be able to set it up once for all projects.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>OK that's an interesting idea. I'll check that with the team</p>
<blockquote>
<p>I found the "See your gantts" icon in the top right corner now -
another example of an icon that needs highlighting in the
intro.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>ahh that is the project specific gantt view - ie will change
depending on the project screen you happen to be in ;-)</p>
<blockquote>
<p>This is almost what I wanted, but I would like to be able to
expand all the project gantts in one diagram. If I have many
projects but only a few tasks in each, this is what I need, not
clicking around to look at each one.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>well let me know what you think of the global gantt view</p>
<p>Thanks again</p>
<p>Best wishes</p>
<p>ed</p></div>edtag:dooster.tenderapp.com,2011-05-09:Comment/359350632015-02-02T19:21:19Z2015-02-02T19:21:19ZGantts and Project questions<div><p>I think I already mentioned the "global Gantt chart" in my
previous<br>
comments. What I want is the ability to expand all of the projects
so I<br>
can see all tasks in the same diagram. This one only shows one line
per<br>
project, and links to them. That doesn't give me the overview I
want.</p>
<p>The way it is now, clicking on the project name AND clicking on
the green<br>
bar links to the project gantt. Clicking on the name is sufficient
as a<br>
link to the individual project Gantt. So what I would change is
that<br>
clicking on the green bar expands that project, while there is also
a<br>
toggle button called "expand all projects" that changes to
"collapse all<br>
projects" if 1 or more projects are expanded.</p>
<p>At first I wanted to suggest that clicking on the green bar of
an open<br>
project Gantt would collapse it again, but I noticed that it has
a<br>
different function in the individual project Gantt, and I would
like to<br>
keep all those links the same, to avoid confusion and also because
they<br>
are all good shortcuts. Hence the "collapse all projects" button
instead.</p>
<p>You might even consider buttons for "expand/collapse all
tasklists" and<br>
"expand/collapse all tasks" (if tasks can have subtasks or "fact
sheets" [similar to the mouseover info, but shown on an extra
line/sublevel] visible in Gantt charts - otherwise tasks cannot be
expanded obviously)<br>
both for individual and global gantt charts. This would make it
easier to<br>
see details/reduce clutter.</p>
<p>Another, more radical change, would be to change the
functionality for the<br>
colored bars in the project gantt diagrams as well, to make
them<br>
expand/collapse the item you click on, and keep the "edit" links
for the<br>
titles only. If so, the guided tour should explain this
difference.</p>
<p>It might be useful to be able to expand/collapse individual task
lists if<br>
you have a lot of tasks in each list. If you prefer to keep the
direct<br>
links from clicking on the colored bars, then you could add plus
and minus<br>
icons instead, that is a well-known symbol for expand/collapse that
also<br>
deosn't take a lot of space.</p>
<p>The main point is really that I would like to see the Global
gantt being<br>
exactly like just putting all the project gantts together,
without<br>
reducing the amount of information. And then, to reduce clutter,
you would<br>
need to be able to collapse the tasklists so the current view of
only one<br>
bar per project ist still possible.</p>
<p>Thanks again :-)</p>

<p>Thank you for those great details</p>
<p>Can i just be totally sure that what you mean by this</p>

<p>.. is to see all the different coloured lines (ie the ones that
you see on the project level ).. in the global gantt.</p>
<p>Sorry I know it's probably really obvious .. But let's be
totally clear ;-)</p>
<p>Thank you</p>

<p>We discussed this in the team.</p>
<p>This would mean that a single task could belong to multiple
projects instead of just one, like at the moment.</p>
<p>Please note that at present tasks can be duplicated... see -
<a href=
"https://dooster.tenderapp.com/kb/tasks-advanced/task-copies-cloning">
https://dooster.tenderapp.com/kb/tasks-advanced/task-copies-cloning</a></p>
<p>but that's different to them belonging to several projects.
Changing this could make things very complex. eg if you complete a
task in Project X what happens to it in Project Y? .. and so on. So
unless you have a very compelling reason to do this we'd rather not
go there</p>
<p>Looking at your comment again I wonder if your requirement could
be met by the project cloning / templates feature <a href=
"https://dooster.tenderapp.com/kb/projects/project-templates-cloning">
https://dooster.tenderapp.com/kb/projects/project-templates-cloning</a></p>
<p>Thanks ed</p></div>edtag:dooster.tenderapp.com,2011-05-09:Comment/359350632015-02-09T16:43:18Z2015-02-09T16:43:19ZGantts and Project questions<div><p>Hi, sorry if I was unclear. I definitely don't want to have
tasks belong<br>
to several projects, what I meant was to introduce a way to<br>
"multi-duplicate" tasks at creation, i.e. create several identical
tasks (one for each project you choose) when you make it. It saves
one extra duplication action step for each additional task if you
can simply have a<br>
checkbox for "clone task in these other projects") in the task
creation<br>
dialogue.</p>
<p>Hope this clarifies my idea!</p>
<p>Best, Vegard</p>
<p>PS: Kudos for excellent support / followup!</p></div>dooster
