    Hi Lynn

Do you mean the gmail widget - or the way you can email into projects and create a task that way?

    Thanks

    John

    see attached image ...

many times a client emails me something they want done ... insightly has a
google mail widget that appears at the bottom of all emails that allows you
to create a task from the email -- try it out yourself .. it's quite cool -
it opens up a popup that allows you to create the task immediately ... does
    that make sense?

They also allow you to do a couple of other things because they are more
crm based ... but the task from email is something that I think a lot of
    people could use ...

    Thank you Lynn

Yes there are a few apps with these widgets. But what has put us off doing something similar to date is that google can be quite unreliable ie they change stuff without much thought for how this will affect plug in partners

But we can do it and thanks for the suggestion

what interests me is what does Insightly NOT do for you ? Why are you looking for a better dance partner ;-)

Any feedback on that would be very interesting

    Thanks John

I don't use insightly .. they were one of the 4-5 I was testing while
looking for a different project mgmt system - I currently use teamworklive,
but have been wanting something that "truly" integrates with Google
Calendar and it appears that dooster is the only one - teamworklive does
everything needed in a project mgmt system better than most others -

The perfect system doesn't appear to be on the market, I suppose because
everyone's needs are a bit different. But if anyone can provide all the
needs of a project mgmt system and put that with a full crm system, and it
is fully integrated with Google Apps - to include email, then that would be
almost perfect. Then the only thing missing would be a full accounting
system similar to Quickbooks. Then I could take the life cycle of the
initial email requesting info and turn that into an actionable task for
follow up in the CRM, create the proposal, close the sale, and have all
that information tied to the new project / task, then when appropriate,
turn it into the invoice or multiple invoices ---- and all would be linked
in a chain of information. I could review the accounts receivables, click
the client's amount, click the invoice, click the project and all the
tasks, and see the original email. --- Oh well ... LOL

Dooster appears to be the closest option that I have found - not that I
have tested everything. One of the things I wished it did was take un-dated
tasks and place them into the Google task sidebar.

    Thanks Lynn

    That is vey interesting

just some thought as to how Dooster could help you with your perfect life cycle

    initial email requesting info

Forward that to your Dmail ( http://dooster.tenderapp.com/kb/dmail-doosters-integrated-email-cli... )

Create a new project "Potential Client X"

turn that into an actionable task

assign the email to that new project - give it due dates, priorities etc

for follow up in the CRM,

Have yoo seen our simple CRM? I think it should do what you need but correct me if I'm wrong

create the proposal, close the sale, and have all that information tied to the new project / task,

well you'd use your usual word / PDFs or whatever for the proposal - and your amazing charm etc to close the sale

When sale is closed you can edit the project name to "Client X"

then when appropriate, turn it into the invoice or multiple invoices ----

You could use our billing / time sheets to create an invoice using quickbooks etc - please see http://dooster.tenderapp.com/kb/time-and-billing

... and all would be linked in a chain of information....

    Tadaa ;-)

I could review the accounts receivables, click the client's amount, click the invoice, click the project and all the
tasks, and see the original email. --- Oh well ... LOL

well you'd need quickbooks etc But my point is that Dooster may give you more of a "one silo" chain of information than we make obvious...

    Hope that helps

thank you for your interest and please dont hesitate to make any suggestions

    Bets wishes

    John
