Hiding task assignees and watchers

We need to be able to hide the names of task assignees and watchers so that we can offer this to our prospective clients:

  1. One (internal) user assigns a task to an external user, selecting from the full list of people in that project.
  2. The external user re-assigns the task but can only see the original internal user's name to select from

We're trying to prevent one external user from seeing the names of all the other ones.

Is there any way that can be achieved?

Thanks.

Andrew

    Hi Andrew

I'm a tad confused by how you differentiate between Internal and external
    users

I assume you've looked at permissions? eg giving the "external" user view
only or edit permissions. Does that work? (Please tell us why not and that
    might help clarify...)

I've had a thought though: How about looking at sharing?

eg something like: You set up a dooster account for each client (less than
    3 projects means it's free)

On your own account you create a secondary client project which you share
with them - ie they are "external and can only see that project - while you
use a "control project" inside your own account ie to create tasks - then
move them to the scecondary project and assign them etc...something like
    that?

It's hard to be sure exactly what would work for you. But how about looking
at both these options and then giving an exact workflow and we can see if
    we can do it

    Thanks

    Hi Ed

They are good ideas....we'll try it out next week to see if that works.

    Thanks a lot.

    Ok great. Keep us posted

We're happy to consider changing things. But often it's not necessary...

OK, this didn't work out as we wanted, with users will being able to see each other's projects and tasks. I've summarised in the attached document what we're trying to achieve and what the problem currently is.

Would appreciate any other suggestions you may have.

    Thanks.

    Hi Andrew

thanks for making that so clear

    But I am puzzled

    Taking your example:

The Project = Supplier XYZ (ie you have cfreated a project called "
Supplier XYZ " and this is only for matters related to Supplier XYZ

If so, Supplier XYZ CANNOT see all projects, including Supplier ABC’s.

UNLESS they have permissions in Supplier ABC’s. project

perhaps Supplier XYZ have been set as a coordinator (eg a de facto owner -
can see everything) or a Project manager or member of Project Supplier
    ABC’s in error?

Please double check and let me know

    thanks

    Hi Andrew

    Any word on this?

It's a very simple check of the People screen in Supplier ABC’s project

Unless Supplier XYZ is listed there, they will not have any access to the project

    Thanks ed
