Hi there...I think i am missing something on recurring tasks. I create recurring tasks ok in Dooster I believe but they are not showing up on the Google Calendar. Only the 1st one is. How do we fix this???

Thanks again.

    Sorry wanda I wasn't thinking
Actually this isn't a bug... it's expected behaviour. Google syncs the
tasks, not the events, so only the first recurring task instance shows up
as it would in the lists. Anything more would severely overload the system
with the way it currently works as we'd have to sync every future instance
of the task... at least for the next year.

    Thanks ed

Ok. Help me understand this. What is the difference between a task and
event? I am not sure I understand. Are you saying that if I create
something as a task that the recurring will show up?

    They're very similar

An event is simply a task with a due date

Recurring tasks have to be set as such ie in your more options section of
    the task

    Thanks ed

Ok. When something has a due date and is recurring then it will not show up
    in Google????

Ok. So you are working to change this so that recurring tasks and events
    show up in Google, right?

    Not really

The first one will show up
When that's completed the next instance will then appear... And so on

We cannot show every instance it would slow things down toouch

    Best wishes

Oh I see. Ok. So it's based on completion. I get it. Thanks for helping
    me understand. Ok.

A suggestion....For efficiency, it would be awesome if somehow some way the
calendar from Dooster could be reproduced on other platforms. Putting
things down 2x or more is not efficient. If technology could help reproduce
Master Calendars somehow, that would be awesome. For e.g. an option when
you create if it could be "master calendar". That way, those are the things
that appear on the master calendar. It's not everything that we need to
have on our master but there are some things. There would be some recurring
events on this calendar as well so recurring population would be important.

This master calendar would then be the only thing that would need to be
    syncing with other platforms.

Thanks for hearing me on the issues and helping me understand what is
available and going on on your end.

    Happy Thursday!

Thank you for that idea Wanda

I might misunderstand but there are 2 things that occur

First there is the actual master calendar we already have - see link on the
main left side navigation panel. This shows all dated tasks across all
    projects

I'm sure you know that already but just in case it fits into your idea...

Secondly: you could create a project called "master calendar" and have this
sync with your google account... That might serve the purpose you have in
    mind?

BTW In both the above cases you only need to enter things 1 x in order for
them to appear on google - or Dooster

Anyway it's hard to convey ideas in writing so apologies if I misunderstand

Please rest assured that we do value your input Wanda It is very much
    appreciated

    Best wishes

Totally hard to convey via email. But you do a great job at doing so. Yep I did the master calendar project. But for planning purposes to see beyond to see many recurrences out we need to see more than the first occurrence.

Milestone is great but my team members are not able to see that either so we cannot use that yet.

Ok so you want to look ahead - eg to month 3 of a project - and see the
    future recurring instances yes ?

  14. 14 Posted by Wanda on 08 Jun, 2012 02:37 PM

    Wanda's Avatar

Yes. We want to look ahead. So having the 1st instance only showing on the calendar does not help us much. We can see the recurring in Dooster but for a Master Calendar which is clear of all tasks and only focused on the events needs to have the year in view or 2 years so that we can plan ahead.

I agree that it would be better to see all future reoccuring tasks on the calendar. Otherwise when you look ahead to between X and Y dates how do you know what needs to be done?

Apart from that i do like this product a lot. It does more of what we need than all the others we've looked at. And we've looked at them all
