Disappearing tasks

One of our tasks has completely disappeared from our Dashboard - we know it was in there at the beginning of the week, and just like we do every month, the task was then marked as complete ready to rollover for next month.

However, due to needing to find some information from the task, a search for the task name was carried out but the task seems to have completely disappeared. Different team members have logged out and logged back in again using different search terms, but the task seems to have gone! This is really frustrating as we need to access the task in order to find out information for a client.

Any ideas would be gratefully received!

    Sorry about that Claire

It sounds like the task was deleted... but please check these possibilities aswell?

Can you check and confirm if that doesn't solve things?

    Thanks John,

We've checked all of the possibilities and we just can't even see old
versions of the task - it does seem to have disappeared into thin air! The
person who completed the task is adamant they simply marked the task as
complete and didn't delete it - as this takes an extra step I believe.

Is there any way that it could have been archived or something, or once it
has gone it's gone forever? :/

    Many thanks

    Claire

    Hi Claire

well unfortunately if deleted then yes it has gone forever

Can you give us the text of the task or at least some keywords to help our devs search for the missing task? ie maybe you have the original text as part of your email reminders etc... IF you can do that we will try to search the logs...

The task was just called Yescando and was set to recur on the 7th of every

    Hi Claire

OK one of our guys checked and reported back

Had a pretty thorough search through their account and I can't find any trace of this task, which indicates to me it has been manually deleted. There's no evidence of corruption on the account, everything seems ok.

I can only assume it's been deleted in one of two ways. Firstly someone has deleted the task itself via the "Delete" link in the task edit dialog, or they've accidentally deleted it by deleting the tasklist or project it was contained within.

Sorry we don't have better news.

    Best wishes

We had a task called Mobile Fragrance which disappeared for about 3 months
and then mysteriously reappeared last month.

Our tasks are set to recur on the same date each month, but sometimes the
dates will change by a day or so, or the recurring just doesn't always seem
to work. We then have to manually change the dates back to the original
date (we keep an excel spreadsheet with very similar info so we always have
a backup of the key info).

I know of a couple of other tasks which have disappeared and we've had to
create a new task and re-input the details from scratch, unfortunately I
can't recall the names of the tasks. Generally the tool seems to work well,
but there just seems to be little bugs in the system occasionally.

    Thanks,

    Claire

This seems to be the problem today - duplicate tasks are appearing:

The tasks which have not been assigned to a Task List seem to be the
duplicates, as the originals have all been assigned to the General task
    list.

I can’t see any date changes today, but numerous tasks have been
duplicated. I’ve deleted most of them, but this one has just popped up.

The original tasks were created anything between 2 years ago and a month
ago. All of the tasks recur either once a month or once a week. There
doesn't seem to be a pattern amongst the duplicates as far as I can see?

OK we'll look into that Claire.

But can you give a bit more info, specifically:

The tasks which have not been assigned to a Task List seem to be the duplicates,

where do you see these tasks? (If they dont belong to a task list then they shouldnt exist at all)

    which account are these visible

Are they visible to all Team Members or only the Account Owner

as the originals have all been assigned to the General task list.

what do you mean by "General task list." eg we have "Bucket List" or To Do List"

I can’t see any date changes today,

What date changes would you expect to see?

Sorry to keep asking more questions like this but the problem is that all our test accounts seem to be working OK so we can't replicate the issue...

    Thanks John

    Hi John

Each of the duplicate task has not been assigned to a task list - they
contain a icon in the space where the task list would usually go.

These tasks are visible in the account adamberry.dooster.net and are
visible by all of the team members.

When I say General Task List, this the main category which we use in the
    task list, eg:

I can’t see any date changes today – but it does happen a couple of times a
month. We know this because we keep a separate Excel spreadsheet which
contains similar information, so we know if there are any discrepancies in
the date. We can also tell from invoices etc, and it only seems to be
    Dooster which has inconsistent dates.

Hope this is the information you were looking for but if not please let me
    know.

    Thanks

    Hi Claire

    OK our lead dev says:

Their user AdamB is using Google Calendar Sync. He's the only one on the account that is, but it looks like that's where it's all coming from.

Get him to unsync from Google. Some of the duplicate tasks may not disappear immediately though if they've edited them, but the vast majority of them will flush out. Let it ride for at least 48 hours and ask them to report back if any tasks are still duplicating.

IF you need Adam to have the google apps sync then you must ensure that your Google account and Dooster timezone settings match
